The Republic of Cameroon (French: R é Publique Du Cameron), commonly known as Cameroon, is a unitary Republic in central and western Africa. It borders Nigeria in the west, Chad and Central Africa in the northeast and East, and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of Congo in the south. The coastline is close to the ibonne Bay, which belongs to the Gulf of Guinea and part of the Atlantic Ocean.
Cameroon is known as "little Africa" because of its geological and cultural diversity, and its natural geographical features are quite rich. The highest peak is the Cameroon volcano in the southwest, and the big cities include Douala, Yaound é and garua, inhabiting more than 200 ethnic and linguistic groups.
Cameroon is famous for its national football team and local music style, among which makusa and bikusi are the most famous.
Cameroon is one of the founding countries of the African Union and plays an important role in the political and economic fields of Africa, especially in sub Saharan Africa. As a member of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, Cameroon's economy accounts for a large proportion of the total economy of the community and is one of the political and economic powers in Central Africa.
